About Sondra

Sondra first discovered yoga practice as a stressed out office worker suffering a variety of health issues. During high-pressure careers in public health and the NYC fashion industry, yoga helped her feel more at ease in body and mind. Yoga has helped her navigate life with greater mindfulness and compassion.

Sondra became a teacher in 2012 to share the life changing power of yoga with others. Her classes are informed by her 20+ years of personal practice, Vipassana meditation, a nerd's love of anatomy, and a musician's intuition for steady pacing and harmony. When taking her classes, expect to find a focus on alignment and breath.

As a teacher, Sondra is welcoming of all bodies and all experience levels. She is passionate about meeting students where they are, and about introducing yoga to beginners. In 2018, she co-created the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification for Namaste Studios in Los Angeles and continues to lead it.

Sondra's other passions include rock climbing, Buddhist psychology, creating music and poetry, connecting people, and fostering community.

Sondra is grateful to have studied with Leigh Evans, Summer Deaver, Annie Carpenter, Leslie Kaminoff, Jason Ray Brown (anatomy), Alison West, and Jason Crandell among many others.

About
20181023_sondra_yoga_18_web_bw.jpg

"Working with Sondra one-on-one was such a rewarding experience. I struggle with back pain due to my scoliosis, and have enjoyed and benefited from yoga throughout the years. I had to take a break due to some complications with my spine, and Sondra helped me ease back into yoga with sincere care and profound expertise. She was really attentive and sensitive to my personal needs and helped me ground back into my core, open up my hips, and feel strong. I feel optimistic again! Thank you, Sondra!"

"I love Sondra. Big help to me when I cracked a rib. She's so careful and deliberate. Explains everything so well."

--Anonymously shared, student Feb 2021

"I have scoliosis and hardware installed in my back, and this time of year is always rough because of the weather pressure changes. I woke up this morning after your class pain-free! I've taken other restorative yoga classes but never one that has helped me so much. I also really like your teaching style."
